What is the purpose of finger and toe nails?

to eatWhat is the purpose of finger and toe nails?
so we have something to put polish on !!What is the purpose of finger and toe nails?
To protect the sensitive nerve endings. Also, they help in defending yourself.
for protection like claws in other animals, also good for picking
I assume they are vestigial coke spoons from the 80s when people used to snort coke a lot. They're also essential for sissies who want to fight dirty “I'll scratch your eyes out” or for scraping on blackboards to drive people insane.
To cover your nail beds.
scratching......picking of stickers ......to make them pretty and ...........and picking ur nose---duh
to protect the tip of your finger from breaking and other things like that

eye brows are for dust and so are eyelashes

noes-hairs are for dust

and mustaches do the same for your mouth
Protection
All primates have nails instead of claws. Nails have evolved to protect the sensitive nerve-filled touch pads on the bottoms of our fingers and toes to allow us to handle things with greater dexterity.
For one, they probably protect your feet and toes to some extent.

However I think their main purpose is for eating. It's easier to grab things and hold onto them. If you climb you also notice that they help you stay up. They are also good for scratching, separating things like if you are braiding your hair and some people even consider them their food :D
to pick up and to wiggle
