How to stop biting finger nails?

how can i stop biting my nails and how long does it take for them to grow back? please dont mention finger nail polish it doesnt work for me!How to stop biting finger nails?
Tape your nails. One way to stop biting your nails is to tape the end of each with Scotch tape.

putting on fake nails like the ones that last a month 9salon quality not stick on )

Apply a cream or lacquer. At your local grocery store or pharmacy beauty store they have nail polish thats bitter i bough one it was horrible Simply apply them to your nail and you'll get an unpleasant bitter taste each time you try and bite your nails! Brands such as ';Control-It,'; or Orly beauty's ';No Bite'; or dipping them into hot sauce

Chew gum. Sometimes biting your nails has less to do with the obsession of nail biting and potentially more to do with an oral fixation. Therefore try chewing gum to occupy your mouth. That way if you try and bite your nails, you'll be stuck with sticky fingers.

use hand sanitizers all the time. i mean if you might ur nail it'd taste like 99% alchol and i dont think you'd like that.

and tell people around you to tell you when your biting your nails so that they can stop you once you start doing it...

Wear mittens. If all else fails, wear mittens. It is so ridiculously unpractical and slightly embarrassing in public, that it should help stop that nasty nail biting habit real quick! How to stop biting finger nails?
You have my sympathy. I still bite my fingernails and have since I was 5. There were only two times that I was able to stop successfully for a time. It turns out that the meds I was taking at the time was also used to treat mild anxiety. Hmm...a clue... However, the risks for nailbiting are minor, so I choose not to go the medicated route.

Some people have been successful by sitting on their hands, but that can cause circulation problems. Another gal I know wore several rings so that she would NOTICE she had her hands near her mouth. Most nail biting is unconscious. You don't even realize you are biting on them. For many people, nail biting is just habit. For others, like me, apparently it is an expression of some sort of anxiety.

edited to add: Hey, I like the tape idea. I will give that a shot.
if you go to sally's beauty supply or any place with finger nail polish there is this clear polish that you cant even see and you put it on and every time you bite your fingers, it taste horrible so you won't wanna bite them my little brother used it and it worked for him!
