My finger was swollen for a while and now it's swollen and there's green around my nail- what to do?

at first it was just swollen


then it was swollen and white around my nail


and now it's swollen and the skin around my nail is green


i've been soaking my finger in hot salt water for the past few minutes

Save yourself the money of a doctor's visit, and lance it. Soak a needle in alcohol and poke it into the green part (pus). There should be some separation of skin between the surface and the good skin underneath (pus in between). If you are careful it shouldn't hurt too bad. After you poke a couple of holes in it, you may have to hurt yourself a little, and milk the pus out. It should heal rather quickly after being lanced. Seriously, if you go to the doctor, he will charge you out the wazoo to do the same thing.My finger was swollen for a while and now it's swollen and there's green around my nail- what to do?
For tonight, put a bread and milk poultice on it. It's old fashioned, but works great. Take a small, (1/2'; or so) piece of dry bread and wet it with milk. Place it over the infected area and cover with a band-aid. Tomorrow when you get up it will have drawn a lot of infection out of it onto the poultice. It works! Then, if it is still swollen, call the doctor. You need to find out what caused the infection.





However, if it is horribly painful, go to the ER now! (It's Sunday evening- you don't want to have to wait 'til morning.)

Light a tiny needle with a lighter to sterilize it and poke the swellen part of the finger and squeez it gently. If there is infection in it, it should run out in a white, greenish pinkish goo....Other wise go to the DR if you have insurance.

keep soaking in epsom salt and warm water


You might have to do this a couple of time to fully get rid of the infection
Go to the doctor they need to give you some antibiotics or antifungals. Wash your hands and keep it clean.
