What does the white marks that sometimes appear on the finger nails mean?

I used to have those frequently. I was told they were deposits of zinc. What does the white marks that sometimes appear on the finger nails mean?
If it's on all of your nails then I would say something related to nutrition or lack/too much of a mineral.

However, if the white mark is on one or two finger nails then it is just a small bruise. Maybe you bumped your finger but not all that hard to remember. They go away in a few days and it's nothing to worry about, I get them heaps. What does the white marks that sometimes appear on the finger nails mean?
it is not caused by lack of zinc! the nail that is growing is bruised before it emerges from under the skin which caused the lines
it's just a bruise on your fingernail. it will grow out after a while but apparently foods like oysters help get rid of them faster and prevent them.
you need more zinc in you system, try some vitamines,I wouldnt really worry but.
Those would be small nail ';bruises';. They disappear after a while.
its a calcium deposit
lack of nutrition

and if they turn yellow, your starving

some ppl say it is because of lack of nutrition but i don't believe it though
its a light bruise
