8 yr old's nail and finger biting habit?

I could use some advise on stopping my 8 year old to constantly have his fingers in his mouth - biting nails or biting the skin around it. Tried using lotion to keep the skin moist - did not work

Any ideas?????

Thanks8 yr old's nail and finger biting habit?
hey , ive been doing it for the past almost 10 yrs, since i was 6 or so, and ive recently stopped. the nailpolish stuff that tastes bad doesnt really work, well not for me because it tastes bad afterwards, not staright away.give it a try though, its called 'stopbite'

give rewards when the nail grows.

insures he gets plenty of calcium, try milk and cabbage

godo luck8 yr old's nail and finger biting habit?
I did the same thing. My whole life. I chewed my nails, then when I couldn't reach nail anymore, I chewed on the skin around them. I'm told my g-grandmother did the same thing. So, maybe more than just my own bad habit, maybe its in my genes. I tried everything. Sour apple and hot applications that tasted nasty, but I just got used to it, and chewed anyway. My hands looked awful and I was embarrased.

Well, then some miracle happened. I was 47 years old... suddenly, and I mean like suddenly, it stopped. I can't explain it. I'm grateful for it, to be sure! Now I have long nails. So long they get in the way. (You have no idea how many times I've had to use the backspace key to type this due to nails in the way.) They are thin and therefore sharp and I often scrape and stab myself with them, but my hands finally look normal.

Advice is.... don't give up. Try using some type of hobby, maybe like model building that keeps his hands busy. Anything that keeps his mind on other things and out of his mouth.

I noticed I chewed mostly out of anxiety or being bored.

Maybe ask his pediactric physician about an anti-anxiety drug if its really a serious problem. Cheweing also makes him more suseptible to fungal infections.

Otherwise, wait till he's in his late 40's.... he might magically quit too.
I know this sounds terrible, but when I was a child I bit my nails constantly. My mom told me that I could get worms biting my nails. It seems discusting, but it can actually happen!

Check this out:

http://familydoctor.org/139.xml

I pretty much quit immediately.
Have you asked him why he does it? Try talking to him about it hes old enough to understand. It also could be something to do with his nerves. Try not say too much about it maybe he will quit on his own.
rub some nail polish remover onto the fingernails. it tastes disgusting for the whole day, even if you wash yoru hands. that will make it stop. you could also try the stuff they use for dogs when they constantly lick/bite themselves until the skin is gone. something like ';bitter apple'; might work.
He will out grow it, it is just a nervous habit and when you can stop what he is nervous about and stop it it will go away. Besides it is not fatal
This question was asked 3 dasy ago by soem else, they got some great answers:

i us to bite my nails since i was a little girl as well, there is this product you can find in the pharmacies that comes in a small tube you place it on your child's fingernails, if he tries to bite his nails the taste is extremely bitter he wont want to bite them anymore!!
I am a nail biter. Only thing that worked for me as a kid was painting on that terrible tasting stuff. Now it helps if I always have an emery board to take off the sharp edges so I don't feel a need to bite.

Is there any way to get the yellow stain off of your finger nails left behind by dark polish....?

You should talk to the person who does your dry cleaning. I mean they are used to getting rid of all the stains I leav...........

ER............I mean the stains they find on your clothes and sheets. Is there any way to get the yellow stain off of your finger nails left behind by dark polish....?
May sound weird, but denture tabs work really well for this.

Get the fizzing kind and plop two in a bowl of warm water, soak your nails until the water gets cold. Repeat this once a day for about 3 days and the stains will be gone. Remember to apply a moisturizer afterwards and massage cuticle oil on your cuticles.

Also always using a really good base coat will prevent this in the future, I recommend orly bonder. Is there any way to get the yellow stain off of your finger nails left behind by dark polish....?
They go away eventually by themselves, but to prevent them you can apply a clear protection polish to your nails, and then after it is dry put the dark polish on over it. this way your nails will not be damaged and the dark polish will stay on longer
Buffing your nails with def remove that yellow stain.

Also to prevent the stain be sure to apply a clear base coat to you nail before putting on the dark color, or any color for that matter.

it protects your nails and makes the color last longer
Soak your nails in lemon juice for 5 mins then buff your nails lightly.

In the future, apply a clear coat of polish (as a base coat) before you paint your nails. Also, look for nail polish with a non-yellowing formula.

Hope this helps! :)
Im not sure.. but try putting a clear base polish on before you paint them dark and then there wont be a yellowish stain :D
well you could quit smoking that might help, lol

Why do some of my finger nails have deep ridges/waves and others don't? I don't get manicures or anything.

I heard it's a vitamin deficiency, and I always took prenatal vitamins. They didnt' help.

I used to have ridges in my nails (which are otherwise very nice) until I used a Sally Hansen product called 4 in 1 nail care. It's about $10. I use it as a top coat when I paint my nails and the ridges, which I've had for years, were gone within a few weeks. Why do some of my finger nails have deep ridges/waves and others don't? I don't get manicures or anything.
i have ridges in my nails too, they're not a vitamin deficiency, they're a natural thing, but yes that sally hansen thing does work! so go ahead!

Why do some of my finger nails have deep ridges/waves and others don't? I don't get manicures or anything.
i get those! they jusy occur naturally for some reason!
Could be your diet... Although, mine are the same way and I think it's bc I hold my pen funny when I write and it just got warped bc of the pressure on that certain spot...
you're deficient in a certain nutrient.....

try taking prenatal pills, they have all the vitamins and supplements you would need for hair and nails..... it says prenatal because they are recommended for pregnant women, but anyone can take them since they're just standard vitamins....

Do long finger nails look good or bad?

on male: good or bad?

on female: good or bad?Do long finger nails look good or bad?
on male: bad

on femalee: goodDo long finger nails look good or bad?
Male is bad. But long fingernails on females is a sign of health and fertility.
On male: unless you want to make an unusual statement that most women will find unattractive (a turn off) or think resembles halloween costuming, keep your finger nails relatively short.

On female: It depends on what you want to draw attention to and style you are attempting. if your hands look much older than your face, you may want to keep your nails at a natural length- moderate to short- and use natural/clear looking nail polish if any. A little length makes your fingers look slightly longer and can be flattering if your nails continue a natural tone. In some regions/styles, it is popular for women to have long and colorful fingernails, while there has been a recent trend toward a more natural look. If you are not comfortable with the style, you may not be able to pull it off. If you choose longer nails, it is very noticeable if they are not clean or well cared for, however it is also a statement that you have had a recent manicure if you have.
Man: no

Woman: yes..and groomed nicely.
on Males: Bad

on Females: Good

As long as they are not too long!
guys: i don't mind, but not as long as most girls keep it

girls: it certainly looks good, but they're a ***** to keep clean, not chip, and try things like cook/type/etc.

and they have to be clean! it's disgusting if you have dirt underneath or chipped edges.

I always keep short nails...I like long ones but my jobs include a lot of ';touching'; and typing. so no long nails for me)
male- not good

female- good as long as you keep them clean!
on male: good but it also depends on how long

on female: good

I need something all I have is stuble for my nails ......................What about getting finger nails for the up coming Holiday ???
How is this to do with general health, do you really need advice about fingernails, get a lifeWhat about getting finger nails for the up coming Holiday ???
seems like a big waste of money to me - but my nails grow so fast i have never needed falsies, but they do look nice...maybe some with decorations for christmas...get wild with it, have then airbrushed designed....now that is cool
I have the same problem. Ive been biting my nails for years so whenever i let them grow they become really brittle. the best thing that ive found is to get fake nails. make sure you get them very short, because if not they will fall off. If you continue to get fake nails eventually your real nails will grow. once they have grown out you can get a silk wrap applied to them to make them even more beautiful. good luck. i hope this helps.
I would get them if I was you. They will build your confidence and might help you feel pretty I know I always feel a little better when I do something for myself.

I bite my finger nails really bad, which acrillic nails would work well?

Hello everyone. I want to try and kick my habbit of biting my nails, and I think If I get fake ones then mabey that would help? Which kind stay on longest and are the toughest? Should I do it myself or get someone to do it for me? Is it expensive to get someone to do it? Thanks, have a great evening!! :)I bite my finger nails really bad, which acrillic nails would work well?
If you have someone do your nails (the acrillic kind) they stay on for about 3 weeks. Most places charge about $30 but, if you go to the nail place in walmart stores they are only $22! They last just as long and I am sure that will help you with bitting your nails.I bite my finger nails really bad, which acrillic nails would work well?
i would strongly suggest to stay away from acrylic nails...they wreck your nail plate badly...look around and see if any spa's are doing ';bio sculptures nails'; they are 5 star rated for a healther alternative to nails...you can get extentions with silk and they still feel like your own...take it from me i specialize in them....the product is from south africa....
I have the same problem. Maybe if they made them out of iron eh? We'd have chipped teeth then. LOL

I used to bite my nails and they looked awful. Now they look nice and they are real so i don't have to spend all my money at the nail salons. You can grow your own and they will look good- this is what I did

1- Shape up what is left of them or trim with clippers

    2- Apply some Hard-As-Nails $2-3 dollars

3- Put some vinegar on your fingers it taste really bad

4- When they start to grow if they are soft trim them again

5- Apply more nail hardener and keep them polished, it comes it all different colors

6- File your nails and keep an emery board handy just in case . Put lotion on your hands and admire your beautiful fingernails. Spend the extra money on your hair or clothes!

    Good luck
you should try buying those nail polishes that taste very bad so that you no longer want ti bite your nails

How long does it take for the finger nails to grow in a month? ?

About a month. How long does it take for the finger nails to grow in a month? ?
depends on how much protein you eat..

the more protein you consume, the quicker your nails and hair grow.

I am only 30 yet all my finger nails are getting ridges.. what can i do to restore their health back?

why is this happening?I am only 30 yet all my finger nails are getting ridges.. what can i do to restore their health back?
As we age our nail plates begin to change. Small ridges begin to appear on the nail plates surface. It is normal to find narrow ridges running from the free edge to the eponychium (cuticle area), especially in older persons (our grandparents).

These ridges can be lightly buffed to reduce their appearance, but take care not to overthin the nail plate. Ridgefilling base coats can also help create a smoother appearance.

Other normal signs of aging are brittleness and slower growth. These two may be related. As nail growth begins to slow, the nail plate takes longer to reach the free edge, so the plate is exposed to more abuse before the free edge is clipped or filed off.

Also nothing you can eat will make healthy normal nail plates stronger. But poor nutrition can certainly make them weaker. Malnutrition or severe dieting can leave nail plates thin and/or weak or cause depression lines across the width of the natural nail. Poor nutrition may contribute to splitting as well. Poor nutrition can also make nail growth slow down dramatically! The hair and other parts of the body will be similarly affected.

    Hope this helps!

-------For all the people who blame calcium deficiency------

Ridges have nothing to do with calcium deficiency, it is a myth.

The calcium content of the nail plate is less than 0.1 percent. Most of the calcium found in nail plates is probably on the surface and comes from hand washing. In short, it is extremely unlikely that calcium is needed to maintain the health of the nail plate. SO eating calcium-rich foods or taking calcium supplements will have no positive effect on the nail plate. Also, applying calcium to the top surface of the nail plate will have no benefit for the nail plateI am only 30 yet all my finger nails are getting ridges.. what can i do to restore their health back?
I use a nail buffer from walmart and bought some seseme oil to go on the nails. I think this is happenening because of low milk intake is what my doc says.
Your fingernails can give an indication of several health issues. You need to discuss this with your doctor.

Once you have ruled out any health issues, drink unflavored gelatin (Knox) to help strenghten them and make them grow.
I think it's either a lack of calcium or, not to scare you, but it could be a sign of anemia- which isn't as troublesome as you might imagine. You should take a calcium supplement ('cause even if it's not the problem with your nails, all women can benefit from extra calcium) and call your doctor to have a blood test done to check all of your levels (CBC/Diff %26amp; Platelet) in reference to having the anemia thing eliminated.
I am no expert, but I do know that a sign of good health is the condition of a person's nails. It you have little white spots under your nail it can indicate you are low on iron, or anemic. (Females especially develop this white spots under the nail during menstruation due to the loss of iron from blood loss).

Drinking plenty of water and taking a multi-vitamin with your highest fat meal of the day will only help. Most, if not all vitamins are fat-soluble, meaning your body will not absorpt the vitamins (in a supplement or snack/meal) unless you have some fat in your stomach at the time of ingestion. Fat guidelines should be followed according your daily nutritional needs. Hope this helps.

Can you have a in growing nail on you finger?

    3 and they are brutal.

Where is the correct place to cut my finger/ toe nails in my house and at what length?

I don't know what the proper room in your home to cut your nails in is but I would say NOT the kitchen.

You should cut just above the white of your nail and avoid rounding the corners very much or it puts you at risk for ingrown nails and trust me you get a bad one you won't be happy you have it.

Once you cut past the white into the pink, your nail is forever changed as to how it grows back so avoid going past the white. When your corner grow back they grow to the sides if you cut the sides. This is a big one for causing the ingrown.Where is the correct place to cut my finger/ toe nails in my house and at what length?
LOL well if you live alone i say where ever you want. But its best to clip them over the toilet or a trash can while in the rest roon and to the edge of your skin. • Could someone help in identifying throbbing acute nail-base pain due to slammed door over finger accident?

Am suffering from acute throbbing pain in my nail - seems to be located in the nerve - often colour tunrs bluish-purple. Due to a slammed door over my index finger some 20yrs back, I am suffering from acute throbbing pain in my nail. Been to many doctors and specialists. Even had surgery. No relief. One diagnosed that my nerve had been 'broken' - maybe severed, and this is causing the throbbing pain. Am taking Olfen - diclofenac for brief relief. Can anyone please assist? The pain is so acute that I am even considering amputation.ThanksCould someone help in identifying throbbing acute nail-base pain due to slammed door over finger accident?
Amputation may not even help . . . the pain is being stored in the neural memory and is being replayed. The effected nerve may originate at the point of the injury, however the memory travels all the way through the nerves back to your pain receptors in your brain which tells you your finger is injured and then produces the necessary steps to repair it (occasionally flooding it with blood to provide oxygen and white blood cells to repair and protect from infection turning it the color of a bruise) The nerves need to be ';reset';. The technique is called neural therapy and you need to find a good doctor who understands what it is . . . This site should help . . .Could someone help in identifying throbbing acute nail-base pain due to slammed door over finger accident?
you have to go back in your time and relax, see this from another view point in casual equating your present condition in terms of just moving down psychologically and relax, where are you now, are you trying to hard to understand me, each word is taking you some where, when you had the look at what happened in your mind and there was the moment when it was struck that it didn't hurt and you first held your breath and rapid cycled. look away and relax and come back, see the time when it was acute but you had not built your present perception. see your angry for not see that your are in pain and why can't i see it, know see what i said and trade views just long enough to come to your senses about what was in the wound that doesn't belong there, see through your mind and look at the frame for frame enplantments it sequentical wound care was there ever anything embedded or cleaned off when you were looking in what is in, help me slow the window down when you sleep and it will come to you in the morning

Not all vitamins actually help, but try to eat healthy food. The only natural thing that can help you is healthy food. You should eat a lot of calcium if you want to have healthy nails and hair.
Fish oil is probably one of the best things you can take for your skin. It contains Omega Fatty acids, which is very good for your body. It has a horrible after taste if you get a generic brand, but it is still very good for your body.

ask her doctor or cut her nails lol. i know it's a common thing for young kids thoughI have a 4 year old that bites her finger nails...?
It's a hard habit to break. My daughter has bit her nails since she was 2 and now my son (3) bites his. I purchased some ';control-it'; nail biting cream, and it works! You have to remember to put it on several times a day, but boy is it NASTY!! You can get it online.
when i was 4 my nana used to tie my hands behind my back or put mustard on my nails-over 35 yrs later i still do it so i guess nothing she did worked
Maybe your answer is in the details of your question:

    ';We have a very organized healthy family';

What do you mean by organized? Are you extremely strict in your schedule, her play times, specific lengths of times for her to do things to the point it could be too much for a little one to handle?
My daughter just turn four %26amp; she started to bite her nails also until I took her with me to the nail salon %26amp; she saw all the pretty colors I told her if you stop bitting your nails mommy will allow you to have your nails pretty to match your toes..so for about a week I noticed she stopped all together so now we file her nails neatly %26amp; apply a light colored polish to her nails %26amp; toes just like MOMMY...Good luck ..
Maybe your daughter has gone crazy with your organised healthy family.

Chill down a little and let her be a kid. Millions do it.
I can remember biting my nails when I was pre school and my Mum used to put ';bitter allows'; on my fingers, it tasted AWFUL!

I am now middle aged and still bite my nails, I dont like doing it, but I just do!

Sometimes showing her she can manicure her nails might help as I go through phases where I manicure mine and I for a while I stop biting them. Hope it works better for your little girl.
My daughter would bite at her nails too. She likes to be a princess so we started painting her nails and that seems to help a little. She now likes the way french manicures look and says she wants tips LOL so I told her she had to grow them out a little she loves to see the white on her nails so she has stopped biting for now. I would let her pick out some polish and nail supplies and have some mommy daughter fun! Or take her to a nail place and have them painted with little flowers.
my mum used to buy some sort of nail polish that tasted so bad we stopped biting our nails. You buy it for a chemest it's specially designed to discourage kids from bighting their nails. Not sure of the products name but the pharmisist should know it's been around for years.

Your daughter may just be bighting her nails because it's just a bad habbit she formed not due to anxiety or maybe her friends bite their nails too.

    Good luck
I'm only 15 but are you sure it's anxiety? My mom said i used to bite my nails and suck on my fingers (well, i still bite my nails) when i was little, but it wasn't out anxiety. it was just 'cause most babies like putting stuff in their mouths. anyway, i know my mom used to put little mittens over my hands to keep my nails from getting mangled.

  • When your dead, do your finger nails and hair still grow?

I know for a fact that it does NOT. When you die the water slowly leaves the cells in your skin and body, which results in the skin being pulled back and shrinking, giving the appearance of growing nails and hair. When your dead, do your finger nails and hair still grow?
YeSWhen your dead, do your finger nails and hair still grow?
No, The skin starts to shrivel away from the hair %26amp; nails, which is part of the decomposing process, but it appears like the hair %26amp; nails have continued to grow, but they too are dead.
    yes
No they do not..... what happens is that the moisture leaves your skin and the skin retracts in dehydration making the nails appear to have grown. Hair is the same....

    http://www.snopes.com/science/nailgrow.a鈥?/a>

    http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mhai鈥?/a>
yes briefly because they are made of dead kerotine cells!
No, when you are dead everything else is dead so the cells that grow your hair and fingernails die therefor stopping your hair and fingernails from growing.
Your hair and fingernails are already dead as they grow out. Why do you think it does hurt to cut them?

Anyway, when we die, nothing else at all continues to grow, Nothing in your body is functioning to make it grow, And when you are embalmed, they remove everything and fill you with formaldehyde so your body will not decay before they can bury you.
For a little bit the calls still go through the cell cycle. When the body becomes stiff then the cells stop reproducing.

Wrap a thin piece of foil around your finger and soak it in acetone. And grow your own nails. How do i get a false nail off which as infected end of my finger?
    use nail varnish remover
i have read some of the answers that have been left to you. i am a nail technician and do this for a living. so here goes. first thing is first NEVER rip of a nail extension. this will not only do damage to you own nail but it can be painful in the process, even if it is the cheap plastics ones that you get from the chemist. your nail is made up of layers like your skin and they will tear, or worse you could rip the hyponicium(the skin that holds your nail at the free edge). you will need to soak the nail extension(or plastic one) off with pure acetone. you can get it in boots if you cant get to some place like sally's. a bit of cotton wool can then be soaked in it and applied to the nail then wrapped in tin foil. as some of the other answers have said it will be painful as you have an infection. this process will take up to one hour if you have acrylic/Fiberglas/silks or cheap plastic ones for extensions. but if you have UV gels on you will need to go to a trained nail professional to get it removed. then i would go to a doctor and get your infection sorted out. your infection could be caused by several reasons, you could have gotten something under you nail plate or ripped your hyponicium when you caught your nail, or you could even be having an allergic reaction to the product being used. either way you need to get it sorted out quickly. i hope that this has been some help to you.
Only way I have removed false nails is soaking it in pure acetone. This is the way my manicurist did for me.

Only with and infected finger it will sting like hell.
that is gross, one thing's for sure don't go back to the nail bar you got it fromm

I'd go to the doctor, the infection may spread

    yuck
Acetone or ,mild hydrogen peroxide you soak your finger in it, the nail becomes soft and brittle and eventually you can pull it off. It depends how bad your finger is. Personally, I would go to the doctor and let them do it for you, They can also treat your finger while you are there.
go to the chemist and buy some acetone acid (nail varnish remover) and soak your finger in it it will come off slowly but it works i know i had the same problem a couple of years ago
It's actually better to get it professionally done. It does involve soaking it in acetone. Afterwards you will need to use a good nail strengthener like Nail Envy as you nails will be really weak.
u can buy a liquid that disolves the glue on the false nail
if it aint to painful you should try leaving ya finger in nail farnish remover (for about 15 minutes)...it makes the nail go soggy and soft...but it still may be hard to get the whole nail off
file the nail down but dont touch the cuticle it should just fall off then
u can soak it in acetone which will probably sting if its infected, dont try to pull it off, it'll only make it worse. probably the best idea is to go to a qualified nail technician before ur finger drops off!.
have it done by a professional
Remove them by soaking them in pure acetone for about an hour. You can get acetone at your local beauty supply store; it's the most cost-effective and quickest removal system
hit them with a big hammer
buy some acetone - normal nail polish remover, then put it on a piece of cotton wool. cuta piece of cotton wool per nail you want to remove do the same with your cotton wool put your cotton wool onto the nail and wrap the finger in foil and wait ruffly 10 minutes then check the first nail you applied it to first then take an orange stick - do you know what that is? sorry im from south africa - and scrap it off, as you remove the foil apply pressure like you were removing nail polish - becarefull your nail - own nail will be really soft so dont peel it off- gud luck
soak cotton wool in acetone and then wrap it round your finger in tin foil. It will hurt though!
Acetone will do it but it will take awhile, always make sure where you get your finger or toenails done that the implements they use are sterilized or out of a sealed package. Many people end up with infections, some last a very long time. Best of luck to you.
you need to soak along time in regular polish remover !!!
acetone is in nail varnish remover.

so soak in that but it might sting the infection sorry.

    x
If its really sore, soak your finger in some Witch Hazel or TCP before holding an acetone soaked cotton wool onto your nail, using the WH or TCP will numb your finger.

Hold the cotton wool onto your finger for a while, then wipe towards the tip of your nail, so that the nail will start wiping away. DO NOT PULL IT OFF, this will damage your nail plate if you are not carefully. Keep soaking it, and wiping until it starts to come away.

If your finger starts to hurt, stop doing it, as it will only make it worse. If you think you have an infection, go to the doctors as you may need cream.

All the best and I hope your finger gets well soon.

How can i make my finger nails grow quickly?

All you have to do is not bite them and basically drink and eat lots of calcium. It also depends on your age. If you are older, you can take calcium supplements but if you are younger I would ask your doctor. Also, there are plenty of fingernail polish brands that carry nail growth, repair, and strengthening products. Hope this helps1How can i make my finger nails grow quickly?

Whats the purpose of finger nails and toe nails?

for clawing or for chewing on when in deep thoughtWhats the purpose of finger nails and toe nails?
It's like hair - it's extra proteinWhats the purpose of finger nails and toe nails?
There dead cells who knows.. but if we didnt have them i think it would be nasty.. MY brother didn't have a toe nail because he had an accident n it looked horrible n now that it grew back he feels better..
To change the shape of someones face you hate and toe nails to scratch the floor when you are guilty of something
You need something to help when you scratch.
protection on nail beds as well as survival (of our ancestors more than us) they are used to scratch and fight , today mainly helps with opening things , scratching an itch and so on.
The fingernail is an important part of fingertip function. It provides support for the finger pad and improves sensation. The toenail functions in a similar manner in the foot.
If we didn't have finger nails it would be hard to open soda cans and we would all need back scratchers for when we had itches? Seriously I really don't know, I do know that my boyfriend ripped one of his fingernails off and it was very very painful for him.
to scratch with, and women mark their territory with them too. for example when me and my man are .......you know, i always leave scratch marks on his back neck and chest, it's like telling others hey he's taken, or gives them a chance to get their a** kicked one!
I bet nature gave them to us to use as weapons.

I'm a bit stumped though how toenails can be used as weapons.

Lord knows some folks have some funky looking toenails!!

*maybe funky looking toenails are to scare off preditors?
pluck them off and then tell me if they are needed or not
to get in the way i guess
The purpose of finger and toe nails is an evolutionary way of protecting the tips of our hands and toes as well as several other uses such as prying, griping, digging not to mention asthetics. We just wouldn't look good without them.
    actually balance
This is either a great question or an idle musing. Try this: Wrap all ten of your fingernails with tape. Now, try to carry on with your regular day. You'll find that fingernails help us scrape and scratch all kinds of things.

Start with washing your hair. Fingernails help you scratch your scalp and get the shampoo all the way to the head-ends of your hairs. Now, get some bread out of a bag to make toast. Without the sharp edge of your nails, it's not so easy. You'll notice right away that you can't scratch an itch. Try opening a ketchup packet at the fast food restaurant with your thumbnail taped over. We use our nails all day to get a grip and start a rip.

Fingernails have a few properties that are worthy of a head scratch (ha!). First of all, they're on your fingertips, right where you can direct them to handle all sorts of tasks. Then, they're hard. They cut into softer materials like corn husks, pea pods, and bark. This helps us feed ourselves and shape our shelters. They're made of keratin, a protein you make from your food. Since we're always wearing them down, they're always growing. They are created from the soft tissue underneath, the root or ';quick'; of your nail.

Because fingernails scrape and cut into so many things in nature, germs can live underneath them. So, keep your nails clean, and don't bite them. It can make you sick and make your hands look worn. We all notice nails. That's probably why so many women and a few men paint and polish them. They're the way your hands make a first impression.

Our nails are the big-brained version of claws. You need 'em. So eat right. Keep them clean. And scratch on.
To protect you finger tips and toe tips when you hit them with a hammer...
it serves as a protection to your fingertip and toe tip, kinda like a shield. when you grip something or step on the floor there'a a massive pressure on your upper part of your toe or finger. thus if there's no nail you may find it very hard to grip and also u'll feel great pain on your tip.

How do you keep your finger nails from chiping off ?

Buy a nail hardener, they're about the same price as a nail polish 拢5/$10, apply it about twice a week and it'll keep your nails from chipping, you can appy nail polish over this if you wish. Also make sure you are getting enough calcium, try drinking a glass of full fat milk a day.How do you keep your finger nails from chiping off ?
Put some nail hardner nail polish or green tea polish. =]

When u bite off u finger nails how long do's it take to grow back?

i dont chew my finger nails but sometimes i do when i get stressed out!!!! and now they hurt every time i chew i chew the the deep and they really sting help me!!!!!When u bite off u finger nails how long do's it take to grow back?
I do that all the time!!! all you have to do is just let them grow out for a few days. And when you feel like biting them bite them. Don't bite them off though. That's what I do I just press my teeth down on the actual nail. My mom says that it's not a good thing but I think it's better than actually biting off my finger nails.

    some facts:

spit dissolves your fingerr nails thus, making them weaker

    milk helps them grow

    tips:

you should chew gum instead =]When u bite off u finger nails how long do's it take to grow back?
It should grow out in about a week or so, but its not good for you to bite your fingernails cuz it will mess up your teeth.

  • Nail and Finger Care Advice?

i have a photoshoot on April 12th and the photographer is searching for a model that has naturally colored nails without wigs.

i don't put nail polish on, and i'm not even sure what ';without wigs'; means, fake nails?

anyways for the most part my nails are long and trimmed, two fingers have hard skin around the nails and one with peeling skin.

i've never been one to take care of my nails so seeing how important this is to his shoot i should take extra care for the next few weeks till the day.

my only problem is i don't know where to start D:

i will be searching on google after this, but any quick easy advice would be much appreciated, or specific things to google :D

any tips on what you do to keep your nails all pretty would be wanted to :D

    i'd love to hear %26lt;3

thank you so much for your help :DNail and Finger Care Advice?
if you want nice, clean nails do this:

cut your nails, cut them to like a square-ish shape

file the points on either side of the nail

    buff your nails

paint on 1 or 2 coats of a clear long lasting nail polish

    and use hand cream!

    tada! :)

I think wigs are fakes. If your nails are long, just make sure you keep them neat and trimmed, and not too long. For your cuticles, get a cuticle pusher to remove the hard skin off the nail. Get a cuticle cream (Sally Hansen in a blue tube works wonders!) to help fix the peeling and get your cuticles looking great.

If you have the money and time, see a professional and get a mani.
The best nail care product I have ever encountered is 'Dr.Hauschka Neem Nail Oil pen' It'll do wonders for dry cuticles, hard skin around the nail, and it will strenghten the nail too. Hauschka products use purely natural ingredients, no harsh chemicals.

i was just wondering what happens to finger nails after you cut them off... and hair if anyone knows.. also i was thinking about taking a survey if people only answer if they think they will get 10 points for it to increase their record but i wont get any yeses so it would be pointless...What happens to old finger nails?
nothing, they exist forveverWhat happens to old finger nails?
It turns to dust. Just like how we are created, we return to that form. Every single part of our body..
Dust is predomintely sheded skin cells, I assume that this includes fingernails....
    They decompose I would assume.
Nothing happens to hair or finger nails after you cut them.
They digest in my stomach, since I eat them.
i don't know what you do with yours, but mine go in the garbage
Well im not sure, but I assume they deteriorate over time.
after you cut your finger nails you through the clipings away...but with hair the barber save it and makes paint brush tips out of the hair.
they dont do anything..it just looks like fingernails and hair..some people donate their hair to people who have like cancer or whatever..or to hair salons..but i dont know about fingernails...what a weird question
Mine get sucked up in the vacuum when I do my monthly cleaning....

please help i cant get the blood out because its in between my skin and nail.My finger accidentally got jammed in the door and now its bleeding in between my hand and nail help!!!?
this has happened to me many times. if it JUST happened you can take a paperclip and hold a lighter to the tip and when the paperclip is red hot hold it to your nail. it'll make a hole and the blood should come out. but if its been more the 10 minutes the blood is clotted or dried and all you can do is just leave it. it'll eventually fall out and a new nail will grow in.

btw, if you do the paperclip thing after the blood is clotted it will just put more pressure under the nail and make it hurt worse so you have to do it right away.My finger accidentally got jammed in the door and now its bleeding in between my hand and nail help!!!?

How can I paint my nails without getting nail polish on my fingers?

Everytime I paint my nails, I get nail polish on the skin by the sides of my nails. How can I paint my nails without getting nail polish on my fingers?
As you paint each nail, pull back the sides a bit with the other fingers on the hand being painted. It's hard to explain but it works.

Always keep an orange stick and nail polish remover handy. If you get any polish on your fingers, dip the end of the stick in remover and gently scrape away the excess polish. (I use a stick instead of a q-tip because the cotton fibers can get stuck on your freshly painted nail)

When your nails are dry, use a generous amount of hand lotion around your nails. With a fresh orange stick, gently scrape away any excess polish. This is a little more gentle than using nail polish remover on your skin. How can I paint my nails without getting nail polish on my fingers?
i dont know, and the funny thing is is that i was wondering the same thing when i saw this message.

Im sorry that i dont know, but heres a trick-

i couldnt find my nail polish remover so just use a bottle of hand sanitizer, and a old t-shirt. (preferably germ-x)

i squirted alot on my hands, and used the old t-shirt to scrub it off, and walla!!

clean hands with the nail polish on the fingers

(warning- only use when nail polish is dry on nails)
i do the same thing, especially since my nails are so short, but i just try my best and then use a q-tip (or many, depending on the amount) and nail polish remover. then i just rub it off of the skin part of my finger. it can be a little bit time consuming depending on the amount you have on your skin but it also works if you want to get it off. hope this helps you :)
Take your sweet time and do it very carefully. And keep some q-tips on hand with nail polish remover on hand. Then wash your hands with soap. Don't worry, this happens to me all the time! Especially to my right hand because I'm right handed.

    xoxo

    -Blah
    Skill.

If you get it on your fingers, try rubbing that area with a nail files to get the polish off, or use a q-tip with remover on it.
Paint slowly and carefully. If that doesn't work then put a layer of vaseline of lotion around that area before painting
i just wipe it off my fingers after with nailpolish remover and a q-tip...but i guess u can try being really careful and go slow when painting them
Slow smooth strokes. Practice makes perfect. =)

I have kept this turtle for a few years. Terrapin to be exact and i realised that his finger nails are?

getting too long, so i was thinking if i should cut it. Can it be cut or do i need someone like a vet to do it? Is there any gadgety in the market to trim its nails?I have kept this turtle for a few years. Terrapin to be exact and i realised that his finger nails are?
What you have is a male terrapin. He has the long finger nails or claws to tickle the females throat to get in the mood for mating.

I am not joking this is really what they do.

Please do not cut them as it will not do him any good.I have kept this turtle for a few years. Terrapin to be exact and i realised that his finger nails are?
you should not cut the turtles nail.let it be as if it was.
No, leave the poor animal alone. It's bad enough he's not roaming out in the wild, so just let nature take it's course on his nails for pete's sake
I use a regular nail file on my turtle's claws, but yes you can trim them with cat nail trimmers too, just be careful to look for the quick and not cut it to keep from hurting him.
I would suggest contacting a veterinarian about it. Though you can cut his nails you have to be very careful with reptiles. They have a blood vein that runs into their toenails. From what I'm guessing is that the turtle is fairly old I would say that the vein has grown almost to the end of the nail. If this vein is cut during nail trimming it can cause severe problems and possibly death in extreme cases. Look around for a vet the deals specifically it reptiles. They should be able to answer the question better.
What you have is a male- they have long foreclaws and they should NOT be trimmed.

By the way, 'terrapin' is not a species name but a general category of turtle.

    http://www.austinsturtlepage.com
no, leave them alone, you have a male turtle
It's true that the males ';tickle'; the females as a sort of ';Hey baby...want to make whoopie?'; kind of move. They grow to a certain length and then stop. It's a natural adaptation and should be left alone.
No, you should leave its' fingernails alone. I have 2 Cumberland sliders, and they each have long nails. I've asked my vet, and he said to leave them alone.

  • My finger nails keep splitting and are soft?

I have kept cutting them very short so they can recover but they just Split again as they grow any ideas what i can do, thank youMy finger nails keep splitting and are soft?
I have the same problem. The issue could be a result of nutritional deficiencies or it could just be genetics. Im taking a multivitamin which is good for overall health, but it also contains biotin. Biotin is a supplement that is supposed to be really great for skin, hair and nails and it has worked GREAT for me!

After taking the vitamin for a while my nails grew so pretty! Im not joking. You can buy biotin by itself in any vitamin shop. I suggest using the supplement and using a clear nail polish for extra strength; assuming you would prefer your natural nails as oppose to acrylic. My finger nails keep splitting and are soft?
It could be a number of things:- a vitamin defiency ( Vit B + D namely ) or could indicate a problem with your kidneys or liver! Sorry, i didn't mean to frighten you and i'm not, for one minute, suggesting you have a major problem with your internal organs but even a slight infection in our inner organs will tell in our nails, hair, eyes and skin! Book an appointment with your doctor and explain whats been happening and ask for a blood test - it'll rule out inner organ problems plus he / she will be able to give you the vitamins you're lacking in higher strengths than you can get over the counter. Best of luck.
try %26amp; keep them out of water or wear gloves

get nail envy nail polish that strengthens your nails.

i have really long nails and everyone always asks me how i grow them out and i just say don't bite them and that's pretty much it.

but if yours split then you have to strengthen it with some polish that has vitamins or something :)
Buy some nail strengthening cream and put it on the bottom part of your nails everyday to that they grow strong. You can also buy clear nail varnish that strengthens your nails and make them look nice and healthy. Make sure you have lots of calcium in your diet too
Try to be careful when washing the dishes (wear gloves etc.) also you can try black nail polish, many people say it strengthens the nails and helps them grow.

My finger nails keep splitting, I have tried lots of products on .the market without result. Any help please?

I know that water is causing my finger nails to split and peel, because I had a nasty accident and I couldn't do any housework, so for 4 months I had beautiful nails. As soon as I started some work in the kitchen my nails started to peel again. I do use gloves when doing the dishes. Any suggestions please? My finger nails keep splitting, I have tried lots of products on .the market without result. Any help please?
If you use gloves then maybe it's not the water cuz your hands haven't been in the water to do dishes. Your nails might have been long because you were on medication due to your accident too. Which medication worked? Ask your doctor. Low thyroid levels cause splitting of the nails as well.....a simple blood test. Ask the doc and good luckMy finger nails keep splitting, I have tried lots of products on .the market without result. Any help please?
It's all about your diet, also if your using illegal drugs it will really hurt you. I worked in detriot for 6 weeks and my nails have never been stronger, maybe move to there.
    have lots of calcium.

I have also heard that soaking your nails in milk helps, but I think this is an old wives' tale
try eating and drinking milk cheese and yogourt (sp )

the calsium will help on only your nails but you skin ,hair and teeth it will take time but those will work best if you have a problem with milk try calsium tablets but consult your doc first

where rubber gloves when doing house work and try geting a manicure as well they can realy help
    Definitely get a dishwasher!!

The Spanish rub garlic and olive oil into the cuticles. I'd certainly try the olive oil, but not the garlic!! (I'd end up sucking my fingers all day)!

Good nutrition is essential too, or a multivitamin to boost you up.

There are nail formula supplements out there too, but I think it's more important to eat well.

Keep your nails shorter too, then you won't be disappointed when they split and break.
    Sounds like you have Onychoschizia

The best treatment is to avoid repeated wetting and drying of the nails. Try to wear cotton lined rubber gloves when performing household chores that involve getting the hands wet.

Rub lotions containing alpha-hydroxy acids such as Neostrata or lanolin containing lotions such as Elon into the nails both before and after getting the hands wet.

Watch people who have beautiful nails. Notice how they use their hands or finger pads to do simple chores rather than use their nails. Never dial a phone with the nail tips; use a pencil. Nails should never be used as tools. Get in the habit of using your fingers as if they have wet polish on them.

If you can鈥檛 avoid trauma to the nail tips, keep the nails cut short.

Always wear gloves during cold weather and when you do chores which may traumatize the nail tips.

Never peel or scrape off nail polish.

Shape and file the nails with a very fine file and round the tips in a gentle curve. Daily filing of snags or irregularities helps to prevent further breakage or splitting. Never use metal instruments on the nail surface to push back the cuticle because this scrapes away the microscopic protective cells of the nail surface.

When (and if) the nails are ';buffed,'; do this in the same direction as the nail grows and not in a ';back and forth'; motion because this can cause nail splitting.

Nail polish can protect the nail surface. The almost daily application of a ';top coat'; will keep the nail tips protected. Nail polishes with nylon fibers in them may add strength and protection to fragile nails. Use nail polish remover as infrequently as possible because it dries out the nails.

One study has shown that biotin (a vitamin) 2.5 mg a day taken by mouth is beneficial. Do not do this if you are pregnant.

Some patients are convinced that one pack of Knox Gelatin mixed with orange juice and taken by mouth each day will restore nails to a youthful state. There is no scientific data that supports the use of unflavored gelatin to strengthen nails.

Taking colloidal minerals and a multivitamin each day has been shown to increase the speed of nail growth which in turn leads to healthier nails.
Try to eat healty food: peanuts, vegetables and fruits and don麓t forget to add some vegetable oil in your diet. Remember to eat calsiumtablettes. Use some strengtening naillack, handlotion, massage oil and protecting base for nails like Trind - in these products i麓m sure that you麓ll get your beaufiful nails back.
Eat a cube of jelly every day. Make sure you have enough calcium in your diet, rub any edible oil into your fingernails before you begin to prepare food %26amp; at night moiturise your hands %26amp; nails %26amp; wear cotton gloves to bed.
dont worry about the products to use on them, feed your body proper food!!! Like milk for calcium which is why they are peeling %26amp; splitting. I suggest you buy health tabs ABC vitamins plus some zinc as this is what you are lacking to stop that. Ohterwise just eat the right foods which supply these elements.
Sounds like a dietary problem to me. Too much of this and not enough of that.

The healthiest diet is vegetarian, with lots of fruit, some green leaved vegetables, nuts and seeds. If you have a juicer, drink lots of freshly made fruit and vegetable juice, like carrot and apple is good.

Avoid plastic foods, like frozen stuff and canned stuff. Avoid preservatives, MSG, aspartame, and all sodas. Eat as natural as possible.
My nails kept splitting and breaking easily so i started to take multivitamin every day, so that i would be getting everything my body needs....and my nails are really strong and long now, they hardly break or split.....i recommend Sanatogen Gold Tablets
Get your hubby to do the dishes.
EveK is right. Calcium Plus Zinc is what your body is lacking. Go to Vitamin World and get you some good Multi's or a Cal-Mag-Zinc. Also, massage your cuticles and nails with a cream that contains vitamins A.

What is the signs or symptoms of being an enimic my finger nails is always purple been told that is sign of it?

Your finger nails being purple or blue is POTENTIALLY a sign of anemia, but more likely is just your hands being cold.

Blue or purple coloration is known a cyanosis which is caused by a lack of bound oxygen in the blood.

Look, rather, at your lips for cyanosis. But most importantly you would be feeling rather awful all the time if you were so anemic that your nail beds were always blue.

If it concerns you a lot, you can get an answer with a simple blood test. What is the signs or symptoms of being an enimic my finger nails is always purple been told that is sign of it?
Easily fatigued or tired, pale skin, dehydration or periods of light headness at times.

I would say that if your finger nails are purple I would be concerned that you have a circulation issue as far as blood getting to your hands or fingers properly wich could be a sign of a clot or even diabetes. Anemia is an iron deficency.

Either way if your conced I would make an appointment with your doctor he or she will run some blood work to check for any deficencies or infections. What is the signs or symptoms of being an enimic my finger nails is always purple been told that is sign of it?

get nail tip stickers soo u dont have to paint them... all you do is stick them on and then paint a clear polish over them... easy!!
I always do them freehand but then make them a little thicker than i want. Dip a soft painbrush in some nailpolish remover and go over the egde adn shape them how you want. it gives you a clean finish.
i just do them free hand...the opposite hand is a little hard but if you do it slow it should work

just do it on the part of your nails that are grown out and then add a clear coat and it is done
go to rite aid and buy something like ';a manicure set'; or something. they give you a special manicure pen and nail polish... and instructions!! its only like $7
    Try Sally Hanson
use tape to control how much of your nail you want to be white.
i just do it free hand, like the others mentioned. and then you can use a q-tip dipped in fingernail polish remover to make the white lines straighter.(.its a little hard to explain..) then after it dries you can use clear fingernail polish over it. good luck! hope i helped.
i use nail tip guid stickers to do the white part first. then i go over with a light pink and then a clear top coat

Smashed Finger, half of nail is coming off??? Help!!?

Almost three months ago I smashed my finger lifting weights. The damage happened to 60% of it. Now half of it looks like it wants off you can even see under it. Then there is the part that is healthy and connected on one side.... Im not sure what to do. If I go to a doctor he will probably just tear it off but is that the best thing to do? Part of it is still healthy...Smashed Finger, half of nail is coming off??? Help!!?
This happened to me before. It may hurt but pull the bad part of the nail off and use topical antibiotics on the nail bed. Put a band-aid over it to protect it from dirt and dust. Put on antibiotics and replace band-aid every day. It'll be fine in a few weeks.Smashed Finger, half of nail is coming off??? Help!!?
i slammed mine in a car door, and all that i did was clip off the part that's coming off and kept it clean.

    my nail is back 100%!
I would see a doctor, they can help it grow back.

vitamin E, either in suppliments or topical.

Also, there are vitamins you can buy OTC that are specifically for nail and hair growth. What can I take to strenghten my finger nails?
u need to take Calcium in aNY form available. It is in lemon, oranges etc in natural form. Lacking in calcium means weakness in bones, nails etc.

Make sure ur diet is proper no junk foods. Most of the junk or fast foods spoils the health in many ways. The timing of ur eating should alos be proper like an alarm clock

    Breakfast - 8 AM

Lunch - 1 PM etc according to your clock.
Drink lots of milk and take a vitamin. They actually have Hair, Nails, and Skin multivitamins now. I believe they are made by One Source.
Sally Hansen has a variety of products. Personally, I like to use their Nailgrowth Miracle.
Prenatal vitamins! My doctor started me on prenatal vitamins recently and I've had to cut my fingernails within 2 weeks! I've never had nails, they've always been soo thin they'd break before getting longer but now they're getting thicker and growing fast. My hair is also growing fast and looking better. My mom always would swear by vitamin E capsules. She'd break them on to her nails and rub it in good but that never worked much for me.
  • kiss lip gloss
  • sun mask
  • Do you have white spots in your finger nails? What does this indicate?

Good things' are coming your way? Well...maybe. A General Physician can help you with this. The other answer is right. It's a fungus caused by your nails not getting dry underneath. A GP will prescribe an anti-fungicidal cream that work great!Do you have white spots in your finger nails? What does this indicate?
White spots on fingernails and underneath fingernails

are a form of fungus. OTC Creams do not work

on this particular fungi. You may have to see a doctor

and ask him for Lamisil, a prescription drug used

for this purpose.Do you have white spots in your finger nails? What does this indicate?
I remember reading something about the white spots and I think it had to do with a deficiency of potassium.
I think it's when your finger has been injuried in some way.
i have these too and so do pretty much everybody know, i dont know what it means though
My mother told me that it means many blessings, coming towards your way.
I've heard that it's because we don't drink enough water.

What are the chemical compounds of finger and toe nails? I believe they either have calcuim or keratin?

I am doing a science project for anaylitical chemistry. The project is obtaining finger and toe nails from diffrent age brakets. Infant to 80 years of age. I am not sure if i can extract either calcium or keratin. It would really help to know what nails are mainly consisted of. Thank you

FrankWhat are the chemical compounds of finger and toe nails? I believe they either have calcuim or keratin?
Nails are primarily keratin, a protein. In fact the same protein found in hair and earwax amongst other things.

You can extract calcium from hair, just as you can extract copper, arsenic and other metals. But they only exist in trace amounts and you'd need a mass spec. or GC to detect them.

Of course if you have access to a GC or mass spec then analysis of hair for metals would be pretty cool. Because of the way that hair grows you can even work out when people were 'poisoned' by analysing the hair in different lengths. What are the chemical compounds of finger and toe nails? I believe they either have calcuim or keratin?
Nails, in humans, flattened, horny, protective coverings on the upper surface of the outer segments of the fingers and toes. The nails are made of dead cells containing the fibrous protein keratin. Each nail consists of a root, the part concealed within a fold of the skin; a body, the exposed part attached to the surface of the skin; and a free anterior extremity, the edge. The skin below the root and body of the nail is termed the matrix. The matrix is thick and covered with highly vascular papillae, and its colour is seen through the transparent horny tissue. Near the root the papillae are smaller and less vascular; thus, the portion of nail corresponding to this part is whiter. From its crescent form this portion is termed the lunula. The nail advances forward by the successive growth of new cells at the root and under the body of the nail. Homologous structures in animals include the hooves of horses and the claws of birds

Girls, does your finger nails always match your toenails when you polish them?

mine never doGirls, does your finger nails always match your toenails when you polish them?
no hardly ever. right now my nails are pink while my toes are purple.Girls, does your finger nails always match your toenails when you polish them?
No...whats the point? Everybody will probably see your nails all the time...but not your toenails unless you wear sandals year round...
    Nah.

nails are usually just clear, toenails are always a random bright/bold colour.
    Never. :)
no i always go lighter on my fingers than on my toes
    i dont polish them
    Nope.
    nope
    no
i hardly ever polish anything... but when i do it's just my fingernails. so no.
i never paint my fingernails so i guess that'd be a no.
I don't paint my toe nails.

How to harden finger & toe nails (if it's possible)?

please don't just say calcium because i'm calcium because i eat alot of cheese %26amp; ice cream %26amp; milk %26amp; my nails still break very easyHow to harden finger %26amp; toe nails (if it's possible)?
since i have been pregnant my prenatal vitamins have made my nails super strong. im sure prenatal vitamins wouldnt hurt you even though you;re a man theres no hormones or anything in them just high levels of different vitaminsHow to harden finger %26amp; toe nails (if it's possible)?
Well, you've ruled out all the options - calcium and ';blank'; nail hardening stuff (like nail hardener product by Sally Hansen). If you're eating foods with calcium, perhaps your body isn't absorbing enough, try a calcium vitamin supplement.

BTW, didn't you tell me you were going to pick up some of that Sally Hansen stuff for your girlfriend while you were at the store buying things for yourself... (hint, hint). She told you to find it in the cosmetics aisle at Target and other drugstores, right? She likes it because it absorbs into her nails and doesn't look like a nail polish.
Actually it鈥檚 very hard for human body to absorb calcium from diary product.

Think about this, The countries consuming the greatest amount of calcium through milk products (i.e. USA) are suffering the most from calcium deficiencies. These countries have the highest incidence of osteoporosis. All these facts suggest that getting calcium from milk source is irrelevant. I would suggest getting a supplement calcium product to strength your nails.

Check out the Isotonix庐 Calcium Plus

    http://www.marketamerica.com/lcbeauty/pr鈥?/a>

I would only recommend Isotonix line of supplements when available because:

1st, Isotonix is the only isotonic form of supplements in the market that provides superior absorption rate that pill form cannot beat. In order to form pills, filling, additives needs to be added, these are waste to our body and increase digestion time.

2nd, Pills need to be broken down into stomach first before our body can absorb. Stomach is very high acidic, thus most of the nutrients are destroyed in our stomach before reaching small intestine for absorption. So with pill form, you are looking for absorption rate of about 10 to 40% depending on our body's digestion ability and the ingredients to form the pills. Please keep in mind that human's digestion ability decease by age.

With Isotonix line, since it's in isotonic form by adding certain amount of water to one capful of powder (it tastes great too!), vitamins won't stay in stomach and will go to intestine within 5 minutes so you are looking for absorption rate of 90% and higher, higher absorption rate even compare to IV injection.

Never look for price when selecting supplements, look for values and potency and absorption rate because our health is priceless!
